Chronos: OH NOEEEEZZZZZZ!Name kanji: クロノス・デ・メディチ
Age: 37
Deck type: Dark ages
Dub name: Dr. Vellian Crowler
Voice: Shimizu Hiroshi (Japanese), Sean Schemmel (American)

Whacked out to the extreme, Chronos is nobody's idea of a perfect teacher. He starts out as the mean-spirited, conniving head of the Obelisk Blue dorm, and after his humiliating defeat by Juudai, he resolves to get rid of him by any means possible. He is a bit selfish and stuck-up, only caring about the upperclassmen of the school and wanting all the "dropout boys" to pack up and leave.

Isn't he just the CUUUUTEST thing?!Chronos first duels against Juudai in the first episode because of his frustration at Samejima insisting that all students get a chance to enter, especially ones with legitimate excuses for being late. He decides he has to do the duel himself, and, instead of using a test deck, uses his own deck to up the chances of the late kid losing. This late kid happens to be, surprise surprise, Juudai. They duel, and Juudai pulls off a simple win against Chronos, who is mortified beyond belief. From then on, Chronos decides that this dropout boy has to go.

Chronos: It's KARAOKE TIME DO DE DO DA DE DE DA DO~Chronos tries every trick in the book to try and get Juudai to literally drop out: he sets up a ploy to make Juudai come wandering into the Obelisk Blue girls' dorm late at night, which fails, and then hires Titan to dispose of Juudai, which also fails. When Juudai becomes the representative for the upcoming interschool match, Chronos is furious and tries to find another way to rid himself of Juudai. He unseals Motegi Mokeo from his bindings and allows him to duel Juudai -- which, once again, ends in failure for Chronos.

Chronos: Mama miiiiiiiaaaaaaaaa!!!Chronos' grudge against Juudai continues until the beginning of the Seven Stars arc, in which it is unveiled that Chronos will have to protect the seven keys along with Juudai and his friends. A rumor begins to float around about a beautiful female vampire on the island, which Chronos thinks is a load of crap. Then, when it's reported that the vampire's been seen at the lake, the group goes there, and Chronos begins to get quite frightened. He accidentally jumps in front of the group, and they mistake this as him volunteering to duel the vampire, whose name is Camula. He then tries to fake confidence, trying not to show his fear to his students.

Chronos: *insert evil smirk here*The duel begins. Chronos puts up a good fight, but when he appears to have lost the strength of will to continue, Juudai makes it to the lake, still weak from his previous encounter with Darkness. He claims that Chronos is really quite strong and that he knows because he's dueled him before. He tells Chronos to get up and show his real power. The duel continues, but it comes to an end soon after, Although he tried to protect his students, who he said were important to him, he lost the duel to Camula. Before he is turned into a doll, he tells the students to promise him that, although he lost, they won't let the darkness surpass their light. He then falls to the ground and has his soul transferred into an empty doll, which is then left in Juudai and the gang's care. His soul is restored after Camula is eventually defeated by Juudai.

Chronos: *zoink'd*Chronos gets another episode to himself in the second season, after the arrival of vice principal Napoleon, and during his reign as temporary principal of the Academy. In it, Osiris Red is in danger of being destroyed. Napoleon wants it gone, thinking there's no room for dropout boys in the Academy. Chronos, who now looks at Juudai and the other Osiris Reds from a much more positive point of view, doesn't think Osiris Red deserves to be destroyed just because their grades and skills aren't as high as those of Ra Yellow or Obelisk Blue. They continue to argue about it until a duel is set up, and as Chronos' life points drop, the Osiris Red building is slowly torn down. Chronos ends up the victor, and, forgetting his composure for a moment, flashes Juudai's victory sign at Napoleon. After, Chronos heavily denies loving Osiris Red and/or Juudai at all, but Juudai and Shou know his true feelings on the matter already. *winkwink*

Lookin' serious.Chronos is often portrayed as the one of the comic reliefs of the show, though he does get his serious moments, as well as a lot of character development as well. He's been known to be clumsy at times and is often caught in embarrassing moments in the show, but also has had episodes partially to himself; he is, after all, still a major character and is indeed treated as such by the show.
