Darkness is the first of the Seven Stars, seven assassins sent out by Kagemaru to reclaim the keys to the three sacred beasts, which, when unlocked, can literally do anything with their power. He wears a mask, concealing his face from Juudai when they duel, with Asuka watching from the sidelines. The mask is a particularly parasitic monster, who replaces the souls of his victims with his own, and uses them as his own body.
He plays a Red-Eyes Darkness Dragon deck, which is vaguely similar to Jounouchi's Red-Eyes Black Dragon deck. He has taken Hayato and Shou hostage during the duel, and their prison sphere is slowly sinking into the magma. However, he is defeated by Juudai after a rather close call, and after his defeat, they all find themselves outside the volcano's crater. The group stirs, and Asuka finds Darkness' unconscious form first -- however, the sort of parasitic soul that had taken over the host's body is now gone, and the original soul now remains. Who is it? Why, it's Fubuki, Asuka's missing brother!
Darkness, now sealed inside a card, makes a return appearance during the Genex tournament, when Fubuki calls upon him to try and defeat Hell Kaiser. Although Fubuki is using Darkness' deck and not the mask, the mask eventually possesses him again, but when he loses to Hell Kaiser, the mask is re-sealed away, possibly forever.
